Hops & Vines Grand OpeningHops & Vines hosts free beer and wine tastings every week! We are excited about our selection and want our customers to have plenty of opportunities to sample what we have to offer.

Beer tastings are held Fridays from 4-7pm and feature a different brewery or style of beer. Wine tastings are held every Saturday from 2-5pm and focus on a particular winery, grape varietals, or a certain wine region. We also host private events and tastings, if you are interested in holding a private event please contact us.

The Girls on Grapes wine club also regularly meets at Hops & Vines, and members also get special discounts on certain wines in the shop. If you interested in joining, contact jessica@ashevillewineconsulting.com. See you soon, Cheers!

Beer tasting this Friday, September 5th, from 4pm - 7pm

We are proud to present homebrewer Aaron Schenk's Cream Ale - Best of Show
winner in the first annual Highland Cup held earlier this year. Highland
Brewing will enter this beer in the 2008 Great American Beer Festival's Pro
Am competition held in October. This limited edition beer will only be
sold in the local Western North Carolina area. Hops and Vines will be the
first beer retailer to sample Aaron's Cream Ale so come in to meet the
brewer and pick up a few of his Best in Show beers!

Schenk's Cream Ale - This Cream Ale strikes a perfect balance between the
clean profile of American Two Row Barley malt, the grainy maltiness of
German Pilsner Malt, and the crisp bitterness of Mt. Hood hops. A perfect
summer beer.

Highland Cattail Peek Wheat - An invigorating wheat beer brewed with a
hint of Rye and the tang and hue of Hibiscus, a refreshing yet satisfying
brew. Enjoy this seasonal beer while its still available for a short time.

Highland St.Terese's Pale Ale - A golden pale ale having a slightly malty
body balanced by an assertive American hop flavor. Whole-leaf Cascade dry
hopping give this pale ale a delicate hop nose. A crisp and refreshing
beer for any occasion.

Wine Tasting this Saturday, September 6th, from 2pm - 5pm

Portugal and South America

Come join us and our friend Mark Fields from Ararat Distributing as we
explore 2 whites and 2 reds from Portugal and South America, two regions
that are known for their amazing quality-to-price ratio wines!

NV Alianca Vinho Verde, Branco, Portugal -The granitic soil, the
climactic conditions and the grape varieties of the Vinho Verde region
of northwest Portugal give this famous wine its special characteristics
of crisp fruit and delicate aroma. Lightness and freshness make this low
alcohol crisp white wine ideal by itself and as a perfect complement to
seafood, hors d’oeuvres, chicken and veal. Try it with stir frys, spicy
dishes and oysters.

2005 Alianca Dao Reserva, Portugal - Exceptional value for one of the best
vintages ever. A lush, quaffable red with pretty cherry & blueberry
flavors. Cardamom notes on the finish. It ages at least 18 months in cask and
6 months in the bottle before release as a Reserva, rounding and
smoothing the wine. Matches well with hearty meats, strong cheeses, pasta with rich sauces.

2007 Echeverria Sauvignon Blanc, Molina, Chile – Lemon, apples, fresh
cut grass and green pepper, this example of Sauv Blanc is packed to the
gills with bright flavor. This is a white wine that will carry over well
to the cooler nights that are soon to be in store!

2006 Domaine Jean Bousquet Malbec, Tupungato, Argentina –This wine has
an opaque violet, almost black color. It is elegant, silky and plush red
wine with intense, rich aromas of blackberry fruit.
